Report of s151 Officer and Case Management Manager

ThePortfolioHolder  forHealthandWellbeing  introduced  areportthat informedMembersofthedebtwrittenofffor revenuestreamswithinthe Revenueand Benefitsservice.   Debtsupto thevalueof£5,000were writtenoffby thes151Officerunderdelegatedauthority.  Permissionwas soughtto writeoff individualdebtswitha valueofmorethan £5,000.

In respectof thedebtswitha valueof morethan £5,000,Memberswere advisedof howtheyhadarisen.  Membersthenhada detaileddiscussion on thedifferenttypesofdebt, theexcellenttrackrecordoftheCouncilin collectingrevenue,increasingnumbersofdebtshavingto bewrittenoff beingan indicationoftheeconomicclimateandhowevena debtwritten off couldstillbecollectedata laterdateifcircumstancesallowed.

To  conclude  this  item,  the  s151  Officer  agreed  to  distribute  the  Debt

RecoveryPolicyforMembersinformation. It wasthenRESOLVEDthat:

1.  Thewriteoff bythe s151Officerof individualWestDevonBorough Councildebtstotalling£39,381.74,as detailedinTables1 and 2 of the presentedreport,be noted;and

2.  Thewriteoff ofindividualdebtsinexcessof£5,000asdetailedin Table3 ofthepresentedreportbeapproved.
